So yes, I am back to the world of blogging, but our computer's not completely fixed yet. We got it back yesterday, so I hurried and turned it on to make sure they hadn't wiped out our hard drive to recover it. (I wasn't able to back-up everything because the computer died suddenly. I had some of my pics backed up, but not all of them, so I wrote a note to the Tech Support people asking them to not erase everything if at all possible.) I'm glad to say that they granted my request and didn't erase everything. But the problem is, there are still glitches so I spent forever on the phone with Tech Support yesterday. They decided that they need to do a complete Recovery (erase everything), and then the computer will be back to normal. So at least I have the chance to back everything up, and this is what I've learned in the back-up process:
1) I take way too many pictures
2) I could do a better job of deleting files that I don't use (i.e. my failed attempt to download the old Scorched Earth game - wish it had worked!)
3) Next time I buy a computer, I hope I'm rich enough to get a Mac (the tech support guy said they've had tons of problems with the model of computer we got - so basically there's a defect that's affected tons of them. Could they not do a product recall and just fix the part without people having to wait until it broke? Guess not. Just glad ours died before the warranty was up, but then it's not very comforting to think how long it will last after warranty....oh well, it's just $).
4) I like to make lists (and save them as Word files)
5) Losing my financial/tithing/income spreadsheet would be almost as bad as losing pictures (okay, maybe not, but maybe....it's got tons of info and tons of formulas built in - it's an OCD'ers dream and I'd hate to lose it!)
Okay, that's it. Hopefully the computer will be "Recovered" soon and completely back to normal!

Well, good luck getting it all worked out! I do the same thing every time Alan tells me to back things up..."Why did I take all these pictures?"...and "Why do I have so many word docs of just random things?"!
Ya know, I was looking at your olympics post, and I remembered that this online community called Gaia Online, and they're dong a ripoff of it. They're hosting they're own olympics!
