Bitten....Again

The travel bug is back, and I'm ready.

Okay, the bug really never left, but life just got a little bit in the way of my travel plans.

2010 was a weird year. Definitely doesn't hold a candle to 2009 in terms of travel. The beginning of the year feels like FOREVER ago. There were lots of changes. Some big heartaches. Life just never seems to go the way you plan, does it? But there were definitely some big blessings, like Jack landing his first "real" helicopter job. It's kind of ironic, because in these hard financial times money isn't really a big concern. Not that we're rich or anything, but I realize that we are blessed to both have jobs and to be able to have some extra money to do fun things. And more importantly to be able to save and pay off some of our debts...but debt is so depressing, so let's move on...

Anyways, back to the travel thing. We're a little more settled in our life in Vegas now, i.e. settled in our jobs, which means traveling is a bit easier. And I am so ready.

We'd planned to go to Louisiana this week using Jack's flying privileges, but plans didn't quite work out. Luckily we had some back-up travel plans, so we avoided the huge disappointment of having taken time off work with nothing to do. So we're headed to Brian Head to go skiing this week, which should be great. We definitely wanted to do some skiing this winter, so now we'll have that checked off. And Louisiana is definitely still on our to-do list, so hopefully soon we'll be able to make it out there.

Also on our travel to-do list: 1) Hawaii. We recently finished "Lost" (I know, I know; how long ago did the series end and we just finished it?) But life was a little crazy when the final season was airing on TV. We were living apart for some of it, then I think when it was finishing we were both finally in Prescott but didn't have cable. Anywho, we recently finished it. And if watching "Lost" doesn't make you want to go to Hawaii, you are simply crazy.

2) Europe. Still on my travel wish list. Not sure if it will happen this year or not, but I'm hoping for sometime in the next two years.

3) Back east to visit a certain best friend there. :)

4) The Narrows. I'd like to do this again while we live fairly close.

5) Southern California. Again, need to take advantage of the proximity while we live here.

6) Mesa/Queen Creek to visit family there.

7) And I'm sure we'll fit in some trips to Utah.

Jack likes to laugh at all my travel plans and how I like to have all these trips lined up. But I tell him that I need to have fun stuff to look forward to. :) I think the planning and the anticipation is half the fun. So let's just hope more than a few of these plans come to fruition!
