I have officially made it one whole year at my job here! Who would have ever thought??!! Definitely not me. Especially when I came home crying the first day, saying I wanted to quit. And Jack, being the good husband, told me I could quit if I wanted. And he told me that later when I again said I couldn't do that job anymore. You have no idea what it was like going from my last job to this one. Completely different worlds, and Artec definitely has it right.
But somehow I have managed to stick it out and last a whole year! It really is crazy. I never would have thought I would have lasted that long. A few things have saved me: 1) the schedule (I work Mon, Tues, Wed days (12-hr shifts)...every week...no rotating schedule or nights or weekends unless I want overtime...pretty awesome schedule....); 2) vacation time (I recently added it up, and I end up getting about 5 1/2 weeks of vacation/sick time every year, which really doesn't suck); 3) paychecks (those are always good to get...); and 4) the summer lull (our census has been lower over the last several months, which has been nice). So yeah, there are definitely perks to the job, and hopefully I'll be able to last a bit longer. In spite of the fact that our numbers will probably be going up soon. In fact, they already seem to be trending upward now that school has started.
I am pretty much bipolar now, with bi-weekly mood swings. On Sunday nights I start a low cycle, then on Wednesday night I'm completely euphoric. :) I guess work wasn't meant to be easy, but some days really aren't that bad. Like the day that we got to play Cranium with the kids. So fun and lots of laughs! Those kids loved that game, and we played it for hours. Best day ever at this job. Most days are not like that, I swear.
Anyways, here's to one year down, and less than a year to go! (I better not just have jinxed myself...)
