Now that I'm working five days a week, my Saturdays are jam-packed. I don't know how working moms do it. I feel like my house is never as clean as I want it to be, though I'm always happier on Saturdays after making a big dent in the housework... And I still don't know how two people create so much laundry. Well, I guess I do - work uniforms for two people and working out a lot will do it. But still! Saturdays are definitely not just about leisure. But anyways, yesterday was still a nice Saturday:
I let myself sleep in a little but (until 8am, ha ha), then went to the temple. That's always a good way to start the day. Then I came home and cleaned house. (I skipped the gym for time's sake, but was tired and SO sore from a leg workout the night before that I was glad I wasn't making myself go.) I don't love cleaning house, but I guess I don't hate it either. And I LOVE the feeling after when your house is clean(er) and you can see the progress.
Then I hopped in the shower and got ready for the day, then headed to my friend's house for a LuLaRoe maxi skirt party. I've never owned any maxi skirts or dressed, but now that I do I can say that I love them! I found a few cute ones, and they really are so comfy and lightweight. Great for the summer. It's nice to have long skirts now, too, so that I can go to church without shaving. Shh, don't tell! :)
Then I met Jack at home for a few minutes after he got home from work, then headed out the door for a pedicure. I'm a believer in these now. And it helps that I just steal Jack's tip money to pay for it, ha ha. Have I mentioned how awesome my husband is? He calls it "our" tip money (unlike some of the pilots he works with...) and even encourages me to spend it on myself. :) Anyways, I've gotten pedicures before and think it's fun because your toenails look cute, but was never a total believer. But then I got a sea scrub done recently (only a few bucks more), and it made a huge difference with my dry, nasty heels! So now I am definitely a fan, and I love the massage/relaxation aspect of it. It is tough being so tickelish...the last two times they have laughed at me. :) But I will sacrifice that for the perks of the pedicure.
Then I came home and did a little travel research while Jack napped. I felt like I was playing bingo...trying to find flights for three people from three different locations into one destination, and bak from another, with the transatlantic flights matching. Whew! I finally figured it out, but it took a little time. :)
I finally woke Jack up from his nap, and we had a nice, relaxing evening. We went to the mall and bought me some workout outfits - how can it not be a good Saturday when you get to buy new clothes? :) We are working out together lately, and I really like it. It definitely pushes me, and it's fun to do heavy lifting, like squats and bench press and dead lifts. And it's fun to build strength. But man, those walking lunges kill me! And it's nice that we get that time to spend together. But our workouts take longer than I'm used to, so sometimes I feel like all I do on work nights is go to the gym and eat dinner with just a little relaxation time. But oh well. :)
After doing a little shopping we came home, I cooked a pretty quick, yummy, healthy dinner (I am still an avid Cooking Light fan - we had turkey lettuce wraps), then we watched an episode of "New Girl." Oh how I love that show. It definitely makes me laugh out loud. It can be quite inappropriate at times, so beware. But it is my kind of hilarious.
We went to bed, and after waiting a little while for Jack to (almost) fall asleep (I feel bad not going to bed with him), I got up and called Delta to buy the Europe plane tickets I had researched for earlier in the day. It definitely makes for a good Saturday when you buy tickets to Europe! I wanted to buy them over the phone to make sure we could get our seats together on the transatlantic flights, and it was fairly easy since I already knew all the flight numbers. Plus the woman I talked to was really nice. So it was pretty painless, and now I can say that I am going back to Europe! Tossing that coin in the Trevi Fountain really works. :) I'm going with Erica and Jen, and I am super excited! We're doing London, Paris, and Rome. Now to just do the rest of the planning...
Sometimes life is hard and I find myself thinking it isn't fair and that I don't deserve the tough things. But then other times I feel so lucky to have the life I have, and I wonder how I got so blessed. I think it's fairly normal to feel both ways, but I'm grateful for days like yesterday when I'm feeling the latter. :)

So jealous about your trip to Europe! But you're right - we all have our ups and downs - the trick is to enjoy the ups (and pretend the downs don't exist?)
