Thank goodness for...

So our laptop has died on us again, and in an effort to be postive here is a list of things I am grateful for in the wake of this, and in the midst of my hatred for HEWLETT PACKARD (that's right - I'm all about spreading the word about how much this computer company stinks). Okay, on to the positive:

1) Old computers that still work! Who knew that our Dell that we purchased the first year we got married would still be in such great working condition! I seriously think we went for almost a year without even turning this computer on when we lived in Louisiana (or was it left on for that whole year? Who knows! I didn't touch it!). I'm glad we kept it around, though! (But any pictures will still have to wait for the laptop, because dowloading pictures onto this old computer will mess up my organization process.)

2) Warranties. I think computers should work forever and you shouldn't ever need a warranty, but since that's not the case then I guess I'm grateful for warranties. (Even though I know my time is ticking, and I'll soon have to bite the bullet and buy a Mac. I have been so against those since they're so "in," but I'll buy it if it will last!)

3) Power. With all the people in Ike's wake left without power, I'm glad my fridge is still running, I have A/C, my oven works to make some yummy food, and I have power for this old computer.

4) Blogs. I think I may have lost my pictures again (we were able to recover them all last time, but I don't know if we'll be so lucky this time...) You'd think I would have smartened up and made back up CD's quicker, but I sure didn't. So I'm glad I put all my favorite pictures on my blog and can download them from there. I was soooooooo upset last time the computer crashed because I thought all my pictures and files were gone, so I'm trying to be a better sport this time. :)

5) Jack. :) For lots of reasons, but in this particular post for the fact that he called the technical support company today and arranged things to get the computer fixed. I think I'll let him handle all the calls for the repair this time, because that was a huge stressor for me last time. No offense, but I don't really like to spend 45 min. on the phone with some technical support guy, shooting the breeze about recent movies while waiting for my computer to reboot...

6) My TV. I really am not dependent on it, but around the time our computer crashed last time our TV did, too, so it's nice that only one has gone out this time. Oh, and are cars have been vandalism-free since last time the computer crashed, so I'm grateful for that, too. :)

Well, I think that's about it. It sure makes you realize how that scripture about moths and rust corrupting wordly things is so true! Material things, although convenient, sure don't last. It's good there's more to life than "things"!

Well, I'm so glad you posted this because I was feeling seriously grumpy this morning. Thanks for the positive thinking! :)

Katie, I have to defend our computer, it is an HP desktop and is pretty much amazing. But, Chris said that it all has to do with the type of processor you have because HP uses several different ones.

I don't know what it is, but I've talked to multiple people who own the HP laptops (it's always the laptops) and they've had so much trouble with them! And last time we went through this, the tech support guy told me they'd had tons of trouble with our model of the laptop (the motherboard is defective). So basically it tells me that HP knows there's a problem but hasn't recalled anything and is just letting people's warranties expire. I think they are taking no accountability at all for their poor workmanship, so that is why I hate them. :)
