The month of love

I am totally and completely copying this idea off of a friends blog. But anyways, I had some random thoughts to share, so in honor of February (the month of love), here are some things I am loving lately:

1) That my cat, Toby, actually jumps on the ottoman (and even on my lap sometimes!) to sit with me. Who ever thought he'd be even close to a lap cat? :)

2) Adele. I am so happy for her that she won so many Grammys. (That word looks really funny plural.) She really is amazing. I got her CD for Christmas, and every single song on there is great.

3) Florence + the Machine. Also amazing.

4) Sleeping in after working four 12-hr shifts in a row! And overtime pay. (I did not love the working part, nor do I love our new mandatory on-call schedule.)

5) Jack. He cooked dinner for Valentine's Day (I was working), and was so cute about it. He made caprese salad as the appetizer (which we loved in Italy), and got macaroons for dessert (which we loved in France). And he also got me the obligatory V-day flowers. :) And he also cooked dinner last night after I was exhausted from working so much. Oh, and he does the dishes. And he's hot. Yup, I am one lucky girl.

6) Being called "hood" aka ghetto/cool/from the hood. One of the male patients at work yesterday called me that, and I thought it was pretty funny and awesome. Context: Co-worker jokingly said "You're lucky you didn't come do that while Katie was sitting back here, or she would have yelled at you." Patient replied, "Nah. She's hood." Several years ago someone told me I was "the blackest white girl" they'd ever met. Although I doubt that, I still think it's awesome.

7) Garth Brooks. I've always loved his music, but I'm really, really, really hoping to use that OT pay to go see him at the Wynn. It's ridiculously expensive, so I'm waiting for Jack's new work schedule to buy tickets. I've heard the show is amazing and totally worth the money, and I know I'll regret it if we don't see him while living here. Plus, the theater is fairly small and I can get tickets on pre-sale, so I'm hoping for some up-close-and-personal Garth music. :)

8) Jack's career. He just got a new job here in Vegas (he'll start in April), and it's a great opportunity for him. He was recently offered a job in Hawaii (which we had to turn down...sad, I know) and also had some opportunities at his current company, in New York, and in the midwest. The whole helicopter pilot thing was tough at the start, but I am so grateful for all the opportunities he has now. And that he's awesome and interviews so well!

9) Selling the Corvette. We never drove it and were paying for car insurance and a garage for it, so I'm glad it's gone! And that we got to put the money towards that last and final student loan!

10) Beautiful, warmer weather. I am such a wimp now! I have totally acclimatized to Vegas and and am sick of the cold winter weather. Which, by the way, is really not that cold at all.
