Confession: I just might be a workaholic

So I was reading something the other day that said workaholics derive a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem through their work, and they sometimes sacrifice time with other people so they can work more. Uh oh! This week I worked Mon - Thurs at ARTEC (my full-time job, so I kind of have to work there), then Friday I worked at Youth Care (usually an all-day job, but I had a doctor's appointment in the morning so missed a few hours - sweet!), then Saturday I worked 7 hours at Center for Change. That's right - I officially have three jobs this week. (I always have three jobs, I just don't usually work all three in one week.) And a part of me totally liked the fact that I was working so much. CFC did desperately need someone to pick up that Saturday shift, so I was helping them out. And since I hadn't worked there in a while, I was kind of looking forward to it. It was a little tough, though, because since I hadn't worked a shift in months I didn't know who any of the girls were. Since the nurse is in charge of the unit, this makes it kind of tough to sign people out to leave, give medications, and know where everyone is at all times. But I survived, and with no medication errors no less!

I just found out that two full-time nurses at CFC are quitting, so that leaves lots of open shifts until they find replacements. So a part of me is excited that I could maybe find more shifts that fit into my schedule. Am I crazy? Maybe so. But I do like my jobs, and extra cash is always great. Here are my options of where I could put the money:

1) Savings for the future (house, babies, etc)
2) Pay off ginormous student loans
3) Savings for a fab vacation
4) Clothes

Well, since a house and babies are quite a ways off, that one's out. And I figure if I'm working extra, I need to enjoy the money a little bit, so it can't all go to student loans. A vacation sounds great, but it's not like I make a thousand dollars in a day. And it's hard to plan a vacation when my life is so up in the air. So to me it makes the most sense to spend the money now on clothes! Good logic, huh? I really was thinking about putting the money away, but Jack works at the mall sometimes (including last night), and that's never good. I go to visit him, but when he's too busy with customers I'm forced to go shopping at the other stores. Yes, my arm is literally twisted. So then I find all these cute things I want/need, and well, what's a girl to do?

I realize I sound like I have no financial skills/dedication, but I do. I just thought this post would be funny, and I think it's okay to reward yourself. So here are the things I found last night at the mall, plus other things I want:

Super cute shirt/dress

Another cute shirt - doesn't it just scream summer?

Love these flip flops - everyone needs a good pair

And these shoes are adorable (they look cuter in "real life")

My make-up needs a little rejuvenation with concealer...

And this great new eyeliner in "Carbon"

Plus I'd like some new things from Rodworks and Gardner Mill for this new wall shelf I have (yes, it has remained unfinished, i.e. not completely decorated, for weeks - I do have some self control!) Like these family figurines, especially the cat! They can hang from the coat hanger pegs.

Oh, and I need this movie, too.

Yeah, the list could go on and on. Too bad money doesn't grow on trees (and thank goodness all happiness in life isn't derived from "things." :) )

I love making lists like that, too...it's just fun even if it's not as realistic as I'd like. I, too, need a make-up adjustment. Make-overs again? I still think it sounds fun, but there were some scary ones! :)

Jen - I'm glad you liked the movie. It's freakin' hilarious.

Sharon - I'm totally down with doing makeovers again. But I think my new favorite line is Prescriptives, and they only have it at a Nordstrom in Salt Lake! I'd go to another counter just for fun, though...
