The Recession Hits Home

Last weekend Jack and I went to see the new James Bond movie at the dollar theater, and then afterward we decided to stop by Pudding on the Rice for a treat. Only problem was, when we pulled up to Pudding on the Rice at 9:30pm it was completely dark. They've gone out of business! I can handle Mervyn's, RiteAid, and Circuit City, but now this has gone too far!

In all seriousness, I feel bad for the owners and think they could have made it if the economy wasn't in such bad shape. And I will miss my rice pudding. It is getting a little scary with more and more businesses having to shut down. And we found out yesteday at work that my company is putting a hiring freeze on all positions due to state budget cuts for mental health. I don't think I'm going to lose my job or anything, but I do wonder how bad this will get for everyone. A little scary, so I guess it's just a good reminder to be putting money into savings and to make wise financial choices. A little food storage can't hurt, either. I really don't think things will get horribly bad, but they sure could get interesting. For now I'm thinking no rice pudding is bad enough, so I'm ready for an economic turnaround already!

Shucks! That's too bad about Pudding on the Rice - I really liked their stuff and was just thinking the other day that I should go. Sad!!
