Jack has officially started his new hobbie - mixed martial arts (MMA). He loves watching Ultimate Fighting/cagefighting on TV, and he's wanted to get into it for awhile. Basically MMA is a mix of wrestling on the ground and punching, kicking, etc. Jack knows a guy (Ricky Lundell) who owns and teaches at a gym out here, so Jack decided to join there. Ricky happens to be the national champion in Brazilian Ju-Jitsu, so that's pretty cool. Throwdown is also opening a gym here, so Jack will start going there once it opens next month. They'll actually have a cage to spar in, so I'm sure Jack will get into that eventually.
Anyways, this picture is of Jack in his official ju-jitsu gi sparring with Toby. :) Poor Toby doesn't stand a chance, but I guess he has better odds than I would against Jack! I'm not too fond of the idea of Jack practicing his wrestling moves on me, even though he keeps asking. I'm too much of a wimp. :) Jack's gone to two of the ju-jitsu classes so far, and he comes home looking like he got his butt kicked! Since he's new he's not one of the best, and they work these guys out good! But I should point out that he did beat two of the pretty good guys once each when sparring, so he's not bad! He could sleep for days after one of these classes. But he really enjoys it, and I'm glad he gets to do this. Especially while we're out here in Utah with such good gyms.
This picture was the only one that Jack would let me post. There was another pretty funny one of him in his gi, but he thought it was too silly. And then there's one of him in his Underarmour that he wears under the gi (BTW - thanks sisters! That's what Jack used his giftcard on), but he wouldn't let me post that one because the underarmour is skin-tight. I guess I understand that. And he also got some Tap Out shorts (Tap Out is a cagefighting brand), and he looks super hot in those, like a real ultimate fighter! Maybe one day I can post a pic of him in those - I know you're all on the edge of your seat waiting!
