I really enjoyed the inauguration on Tuesday, and it will definitely be one to be remembered. Not only because Barrack Obama took the oath as the first african american president of the United States, but because I got to watch it alongside some of our little rascals at work. :) I had to work on Tuesday, but a group of us went on to one of the units and watched the proceedings there with the kids.
It was neat to watch, and I thought he did a great job with his speech. I do have to clarify that I liked George W. Bush, and I'm sad and disappointed in all the criticism he's received. When I hear it, I just want to tell people that maybe they should have been president for those 8 years and we'll just see who would've done a better job. :) I think it was a rough 8 years for America, and although Pres. Bush may not have acted perfectly throughout it all, really is anyone perfect? And who am I (or anyone else for that matter) to second guess the decisions he made? No one is perfect, even though some people seem to think they are. :) And no one else was in his shoes. I just hope he's remembered for the great things he did. I still remember seeing video clips of Saddam Hussein's statue being toppled in Iraq - finally, freedom for these Iraqi people from this tyrant.
But I am excited for Pres. Obama and hope that he will do well. I'm excited that we've got a great public speaker for president now, because I will admit that he's got the advantage over George Bush on that one. :) So here's to Obama, and hoping that he can do well with getting our country through these difficult times.
