Jack and I recently switched wards/congregations at church. We didn't move or anything, but since we've both been done with school for awhile it was time to move on from the BYU student ward into a traditional family ward. In some ways it's not a whole lot different - still a lot of young married couples. But because it's not a student ward, there are some older couples with older kids. This difference was glaring today as I tried to keep my focus through Sacrament Meeting. We had the most hilarious family in front of us, and boy was it hard to concentrate! Here were some of the interesting parts (and these parents are great, I'm sure, so none of this is in criticism of them - kids will be kids!):
1) one of the daughters (maybe 3 years old?) dancing in the aisle
2) another daughter (3 or 4?) throws her baby doll over the bench towards us! It was a little startling, but no worries - she had a string attached to the doll so it snapped right back. Imagine our surprise at that. :) (It did remind me of my childhood when I would hang barbies over the loft by strings...)
3) the same daughter in event #2 was chewing bread for the Sacrament, and stuck her tongue out with the half-chewed bread on it. And left her tongue out, playing with the half-chewed bread for all to see. Again, this was right in front of us so hard to miss, especially since she was facing us!
4) This was the best - I notice the same daughter as in #2 and #3 playing with something on top of the bench. Something very small and sticky. I couldn't be sure, because I didn't see what she was doing right before this, but it seemed suspiciously like a booger. And THEN...the gets it stuck to the top of the bench and curls her finger against her thumb in an attempt to flick it toward us!! Well, of course the darn thing is too sticky or something, so then she gets it on her hand and just wipes it all over the upholstery of their bench. So then I can't stop laughing as I tell Jack that he probably has boogers on his back this very second. :)
Ahhh, the hilarities of little children. I think we'll have to sit some place else next Sunday. I felt bad for laughing. But surprisingly I still did get a lot out of church today, so there's hope for me!

That's cool that you can enjoy the fun of it all. If I were you I'd reserve my seat behind that family every week!
